The higher ups at the school seem to treat you more like an ATM than a person. If your family suddenly finds itself in financial difficulty (my dad died one semester,) don't expect any need based financial aid. The school prefers the performance based approach; how they expect anyone to perform well academically after a death in the family is beyond me, but the financial aid system at BU in general is borderline offensive. Social class permeates the entire school--unspoken, denied, ignored, the atmosphere reeks of spoiled kids' and their sense of entitlement.
