I love Marist because it feels like a home - not like my home, just a home. The people there are incredibly welcoming and friendly. It's kind of a "cookie-cutter" school when you first look at it, but when you look a little deeper there are very deversified interests and an incredible amount of opportunities to get involved with other students (as well as professors). And even though Poughkeepsie may not seem like the most happening town, there's everything you need. Plenty of places to eat, a mall, clubs, bars, skating rink, bowling alley, swing dancing, small shops, rock climbing, hiking, hiking / walking - and that's just what I've found. As far as classes, Marist expects the best out of its students. The classes are small, so you're not a number... but that means your professors know you on a personal level and know what you're capable of - and will challenge you to do it. The typical student is helpful and friendy, definately grade-conscious, but not to the point where it's frightening or cut throat. The environment is generally one of aiming towards mutal success for everyone.
