One of the best things about Marist College (that I think all prospective students should know) is the accuracy of certain statistics regarding academics. For example, information from www.marist.edu and resources from the Office of Admissions indicate that the average class size is between 20 and 25 students, with no classes exceeding 30 students. In addition to the small class sizes, there is concurrently a student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1. This ensures that each student receives more than enough academic support. Based on my own experiences at Marist, I know that these facts are not only true, but the efforts made by all faculty and staff to uphold these standards are successful. I have never had more than thirty students in one of my classes, and the majority of them have had between 18 and 25 students- depending on which type of course it is. Each professor that I have had has been a qualified and effective instructor that knew each student personally. I was able to communicate with my professors inside and outside of class, and take advantage of extra help opportunities such as appointments, review sessions, and office hours to help me better understand the material and/or ask questions about assignments. I have been thoroughly impressed by many other features of Marist College such as the aesthetically pleasing campus, housing options, special academic opportunities (internships, study abroad, etc.), and the clubs and activities. However, I feel that the high quality of the education that students of all majors receive is the most important.
