Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
Geneseo is a joke. The school is far from being anything close to a "public ivy". The academics are one dimensional and the class selection is just pitiful. The community college five minutes from my house has more classes to choose from (I checked). They offer the bare minimum, just enough for you to get a degree. The teachers are friendly but nothing special. The faculty and staff are ALWAYS complaining about how little money Geneseo has for it's budget. It gets old fast. The school asks you to take shorter showers, unplug everything, and turn off all your lights in order to be more green. Honestly, I think it's just to save them money on their electricity bills. And yet, even though Geneseo reminds you over and over that they have no money, there are plans for a 36 million dollar project to put a YMCA on campus. Smart. The food is crap. There are like three places to eat and they all serve basically the same thing. Everything is processed and unhealthy. There is no variety and few options. Bleh. Social aspect: There is nothing to do on the weekends. Last year a kid died at a party and ever since the party scene here has been nonexistent. You have to join a frat or sorority if you want any semblance of a night life. Lastly, the people. The majority are socially inept. They grew up absorbed in school work and books and never had a life. Half of them have never drank, kissed someone, or had a relationship before college. The drama you'd find is high school finds its way onto campus because the people here don't know how to interact with other people. They never learned the basic life lessons most people learn in high school. Overall, I don't like it here. I'm transferring out next fall. There is definitely a certain type of person that fits in here and if you aren't one of them you'll hate it.
