When I graduated from high school I was excited to try new things and enjoy learning. UCSD depressed all my excitement about learning and put me in the queue of thousands of others just itching to graduate and "finish" school. Really there is nothing enjoyable about learning at this university. Most professors are interested in research and aren't teachers, so they don't know how to take care of students. Nobody feels comfortable with professors or finds them relate-able, hence there is no "I want to learn" from students and no "I want to teach" from professors. Also professors are required by the university to report cheating etc. without ever asking the students what happened (as a lot of professors are paranoid and will report slight inconsistencies...and lose their case in "court"). The education is sub-par and perhaps involves doing lot of busy work and never getting a chance to think things over. The quarter system is terrible and just forces everybody to think about grades day and night. Going to community college and attending a different institution would be possibly a much better approach. Don't go here.
