GVSU is a joke of a school. Sure, it puts on a great show, and has a nice, new, shiny campus. But once you're in, you realize its all for show. The administration is ridiculous and weighs students down in mindless bureaucracy and nonsense. They squander and waste the resources, choosing to build unsightly and un-needed new buildings and buy "toys" that go unused (DPS segway scooters). So much is spent on tooting the university's own horn, and proGVSU propaganda, and convincing the students and the people around the school that the college is amazing, rather than actually trying to make it a decent place to be. The student body here is as ridiculous, and contrived as the university itself. There is no diversity here, contrary to what the school tells you, as 90% of the students are Caucasion, Protestant, and closetly bigoted towards anyone not like them. The classwork here is a joke too, as most of the programs simply bog their students down in mind numbing busy work, rather than intellectually challenging and stimulating material. The professors pretend to care, and some of them actually do, but most are here just waiting for their tenure to hit, and then they slack off. Simply put, I feel like I'm back at community college, or worse, in high school. If you actually want academic substance, a diverse and welcoming student body, and a college that stands behind its curriculum, rather than wasting time and money on contrived ideas and lies, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH GRAND VALLEY. I'm transferring out, to a school that is actually worth my time and money.
