Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
As an alum of UT, I can say that I am happy I graduated from UT and would make the same decision if I were 18 again. However, I wasn't very happy as a student. Pros: - Great value for the money. Because I didn't have huge undergrad loans like my friends, I was able to go to the Ivy League for grad school. I'm so glad I made the practical choice for undergrad so that I could afford the Ivy League for grad school where there is a bigger payoff. -Great reputation: I was in the undergrad business program and received multiple, great job offers and was often told from recruiters how much they liked UT students both academically and socially -All types of people go to school here -Lots to do in terms of different extracurricular activities and social options. My friends at private colleges were bored by the time they were seniors, but I was never bored. -UT forced me to grow up a lot. There are many great teachers and administrators, but I often felt lost due to the size of the school. I learned to make my own experience by taking initiative. This is a painful but wonderful lesson in life. Cons: -Hard to meet people because of the large size and large classes. There are people like you at UT, but it can take years to find them. You have to join student organizations and take the initiative to meet people or it can be lonely. -If you're a female, the dating scene can be extremely brutal. There are SO many pretty, in shape girls. The good news is that if you can survive the dating scene at UT as a girl, dating life post-college is super easy. I went from feeling like a dog girl at UT to being asked out by a different guy every weekend when I moved to the Northeast.
