Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
Geneseo suffers from extreme budget constraints and is constantly making cuts at the expense of academics. This past year three academic departments were completely cut (art, computer science, and speech path) and numerous courses are not being offered. Upper level course often have 30 or more people in them (they flat out lie about classes sizes in admissions material). Even though this is not a very large school students do not get a chance to get to know the facility. The facility is mediocre at best. The majority of course are taught my inexperienced (and often under-qualified) adjuncts. I took a 200-level course on the developing world that was taught by a conceited 24-year old adjunct that had never even stepped in the developing world. Though there are a few exceptions, most make no attempt to get to know or help their students. Geneseo is 98% made up of instate students. This translated to zero diversity. The student body is made up of incredibly boring individuals who seem to all be clones of each other. Being that this school is in the middle of no way there is absolutely nothing to do. If you ever want social plans that deviate drinking at the same falling apart off campus houses week, after week, after week look into a school located closer to a city. Everything on Main Street (not that there is anything there to begin with) literally closes at before 6pm. Geneseo's one redeeming quality is that it is comparatively inexpensive. However, in the case of Geneseo you really get what you pay for...a degree from a unknown state school that prospective employers will not even be able to pronounce.
