Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
Once I decided to stay in the state of Florida for my college career, my choice was between UCF, UF, and FSU. I was accepted to each school and offered merit scholarships at them all. I spent months researching each school and visited them all several times. In the end, I chose UCF because, simply, it was the only school in Florida that I could see myself at. Since coming here, I have been very surprised and pleased to feel that I have made the right decision. It is a large school, but first of all, it is roughly the same size as UF (within a few thousand students) and second, large school means more opportunities and greater competition. I chose UCF because I believe that it is growing exponentially and improving each department and facility at the same rate. Meanwhile, I get the feeling that the other state universities have seen their best days and will soon be overcome by UCF. I do not regret my decision to come to UCF over both UF and FSU. The area supports the school and yet, unlike Gainesville, Orlando does not revolve around the school and its athletics. This means that you don't have to be surrounded by immature fraternity and sorority girls while downtown if you don't want to. On the other hand, the Greek system is great and is there for you if you want to be a part of that. You also don't need to worry if you are not into sports because, believe it or not, there is a lot of stuff to do on game days other than tailgate. Basically, there is a niche for everyone here and I just wish I could go back in time and prevent the stress and anxiety I had when trying to make my decision. If you have the opportunity to attend UCF, do it! This school has so many resources available from the gym to the entreprenuerial center, where there are coaches to help you start your own business. Clubs are available for pretty much anything in the world and the student body is very upbeat and friendly.
