I came to UB after my freshmen year of college. It was a change of pace from my other college. I went to a school with all white kids basically my freshmen year. At UB you get every race( Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Indian)you may not like it, I didn't mind it after awhile but it's only going to help you down the road because of how the world continues to shrink and companies and jobs are becoming more global. When I first got there I was pretty pissed because of the dorm I was living in, which isn't there anymore. I lived on south campus as a sophomore. South campus is basically all freshmen so if you are going to be attending the school as a freshmen living on north south you will meet people. As a sophomore there weren't to many people my age. But just like at all colleges you need to be willing to go meet people. The food is okay, there are so places that are awesome and others that aren't but they seem to working on getting better food all the time. Sports are okay as well. The Men's basketball team is usually pretty good, the football team could be good but there facilities look like high school facilities. The dorm living is pretty good pretty standard for most colleges. Ellicott is pretty cool over 3000 students in one area is nice. There is always something to do. Sports wise they have indoor and out door basketball courts, plenty of open field to play football, baseball soccer etc on. Intermural sports are pretty good as well. The girls are above average only because there is so many of them so there is plenty of good looking girls. A lot of Long Island girls though which is a pain at times because they think they are entitled to thing, some not all, you will see if you attend there. Not all Long Islanders are that bad though. The guys are the same way. Greek life is okay. No frat or sorority house as in a main house. There are live 5 or 6 for each sorority or frat so its a pain in the ass and in my eyes not worth it. all my friends dropped out of there respective frat or sorority after 3 semesters. All greeks have open parties usually too so its not a big deal. There are bars on south campus. There are two 18 and older bars(Northside and Mojo's) and two 21 and older bars(steer and third Base). Average joes and Slick Willys are two other really good bars to go to as well. Slick Willy's on Thursday night is ladies night and it is always packed. Downtown is a lot of fun too if you do it a few times a semester, just a pain to get home, you can take a subway down. Sabres and Bills games are mad fun as well. Canada is mad fun as well once u turn 19 and its 45 minutes away with customs and boarder crossing. Overall i liked my experience. the academics are challenging at times. all 100 level classes are easy but but most classes give you a good challenge,if you put in the work for your home and projects plus an extra 1 to 1.5 every week for all ur classes u can get a 3.0 and higher easily.
