Deciding on going to marist was the best decision I have ever made!!! The school makes freshman feel right at home. They do a very good job of matching you up with a compatible roomate and first semester they schedule your classes for you depending on your declared major. It makes things alot easier :) The dorms are actually pretty nice. Of course freshman dorms are some of the less attractive on campus but compared to all the other colleges I visited-they are pretty good. I lived in Champagnat which is the biggest dorm and is connected to the student center. Upperclassmen housing is really nice. I can't wait until I can live in Upper West Cedar or the New Townhouses! Also, marist's housing system is not a lottery. It is based on priority points you earn through your gpa and extra-cirricular activites. It is really a wonderful system!! The social aspects of marist are great too. Even though freshman are NOT allowed to have cars (one drawback), there are plenty of things to do on campus and you can also call a cab that will pick you up and drive you anywhere. Marist is also right on the Hudson river which is a great location and also it is really close to the train station if your parents can't pick you up or just take a day trip into New york city which is 90 minutes away. Academically Marist is pretty good. I have really liked all my teachers, class sizes are small and there are resources such as the writing center in our extrememly huge and technologically advanced library and math lab. Marist college is a great college all around. It has got it all and I am so proud to say that is where I attend college!!!
