The University of Alaska - Anchorage

Since I am a resident of Alaska it was cheap but do not think the price was worth the education at University of Alaska Anchorage. The adviser of the university was always busy and have given my younger brother wrong advises. This university is a waste of time. If you have the chance do not come to this university because the professor here will just teach you out of the book. It is worth it to clep out or dante out of the courses you need.

Campus Aesthetics: A+, Education Quality: D-

A lot of people say mean things about UAA being substandard or a "last reesort" when all of their other schools turn them down, I think they have simply given up and not given the school a chance. Everything can be either a success or a complete failure dependiing on what you put into it, as a freshman I have joined clubs, gotten involved in campus life, lived in the residential commnuity, and worked on campus, and I am loving every minute of it.

As far as the friendliness of the campus is concerned, I think it depends tremendously on who you are interracting with. There is a really high number of non traditional students attending UAA which provides an almost community college feel and I can see where this might deter some of the younger students trying to acheive the more traditional college experience, but there are still plenty of ways to meet people who are closer to your demographic. Join the outdoor club,get involved in UAA's ever expanding Greek Life, did you know we even have a girlscout troop on campus? There are so many opportunites for students, they just choose to sit there and whine instead. Admittedly, when it comes to night life, Anchorage is distinctly lacking in options for the 18 to 20 age bracket, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun here. I think the University is a great place and I think that there will be a lot more positive changes in the future of this university.
