As far as health programs are concerned, UAA appears to bBrightRadiological Sciences
As far as health programs are concerned, UAA appears to be following suit with other degree factory colleges and flooding the market. Many of last years graduating class still don't have jobs. If given the option don't go to UAA unless it's for Med Lab tech or Dental, otherwise, leave state, where the programs are much better. My personal experience at UAA was negative, very condescending teacher. When clinical time came around they weren't helpful at all, made almost 0 effort to keep track of students in facilities, and offered 0 support for any problems that arose, except disciplining or blaming students. Many of the facilities have a negative attitude toward students from UAA, whereas if you're coming from Oregon or Washington, it's not so bad.

This is a school filled with people that are in the military. Generally very conservative. A lot of people carry guns. Even a few professors conceal carry. The aviation program is in shambles. Good luck getting through that program without much waiting and wasting mucho dinero. They are over extended, do not have enough planes to train in, can not fix the ones they have in a timely manner, do not have enough full time instructors and are generally unreliable. Should I mention the lack of any sort of dress code that is adhered to or the unprofessional language. There is also the liberal bashing and poor attitudes towards minorities that is most likely perpetuated by the pervasive military presence. If you are patient and don't care about spending tons of money, this is a great school!! If you like the outdoors, this is a great place to go to school, otherwise look somewhere else.

UAA is an alright campus if you are looking for a safety school. The only reason i came up here was because I had lived in Alaska for a few years and wanted to come back. The social life here is completly dead, no bands come up here, our sports teams are okay (not that entertaining to watch), almost no students at sporting events, and programs for student entertainment are small and usually under advertized. As far as the education, it is okay. I mean a degree is a degree but it is not that hard to get a degree from here. I feel as challenged as I did in high school.
