Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I think that all the positive reviews onBrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I think that all the positive reviews on here are from staff members. I know it's them because they always mention the ?small class sizes?. So what? The class sizes are small, but that does not make up for the complete lack of academic vigor. When I transferred to the mainland after completing HPU's "college" level algebra with an A+, I had to test into calculus and I ended up placing into intermediate algebra in the mainland. What a waste of time and money this school was. No one has even heard of this shady school, your degree is practically worthless. In addition, the BUSINESS program is NOT accredited. I repeat it is NOT ACCREDITED.

Trust me, if you are at all concerned about the quality of education you will receive during your time in college, do not go to HPU. This is NOT A GOOD SCHOOL. I was tricked into it too. I didn't listen to the reviews, I thought they were just anecdotes from disgruntled students. I thought Hawaii would be cool, I thought this was a good school... if you're a freshman, do not go here, this place does not even remotely come close to a quality college experience.

After going to HPU for a year, I transferred to a state university on the mainland and I'm overjoyed that I did! The bigger state schools might have bigger classes, but they also have way more resources for students. I don't regret leaving that craphole they call a university for one second. I am making way more friends, I am challenged academically and I am happier than I have been in the past year.

Please listen to us when we say that the homeless literally infest the downtown campus. They are not just homeless people, but mentally ill and drug addicted. They were such a blight on the campus, they were a major factor in my decision to leave. They would harass me for money and threaten me when they did not get what they want. They would smoke at our lunch tables, and they would walk around yelling at people, scaring me and others. Drug dealers go to Ft Street Mall to score all the time. It is not uncommon to see drug deals and crime. Bikes and mopeds were constantly being stolen, it's just a shady shady place to be. As I walk around my beautiful, safe, grassy, tree lined, large, mainland campus, I thank myself everyday for making the decision to leave that worthless, waste of time school.

Question
If you want to see what HPU isOther
If you want to see what HPU is like and you can afford it, I'd advise an actual visit to the downtown campus before you enroll here. Make sure you get a good sniff of the urine soaked street called Fort Street Mall that runs through the center of campus. Look around. Then if you're fine with that and just want to chill in Hawaii for four years that's cool. But the school has no downtown campus. It rents buildings. The private campus is actually a public street where you and the homeless have equal rights to be there. If you can't afford a campus tour go to a photo sharing website such as Flickr and just type in Fort Street Mall. This is where the classes are. It's not that bad if you're classes are in the daytime. At nighttime it gets interesting.

Question
I think it is true that you getNot so brightUndecided
I think it is true that you get out of a university what you put into it. If you want to take your education seriously, HPU is a good school. It has lots of quality teachers and interesting classes. Unlike at a lot of big state schools, you can actually get to know your professors on a personal level and most of them have advanced degrees and are not just teaching assistants. The other students are also very friendly, though some of them are foreign and don't speak perfect English. But dealing with people who don't speak English is part of life. It might be annoying sometimes on group projects, but it shouldn't be an issue if you do a good job on your own work. The same goes for the homeless people in Honolulu. They are also part of life. Every big city school has them. If you mostly want to party at a tropical resort, then HPU really isn't what you want. If you want to live in Hawaii, focus on your education, meet interesting people and (hopefully) get job when you graduate, then this college is a good choice.
