I went to Michigan State since many ofBrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I went to Michigan State since many of my friends from high school were going there, and I had expected it to be four of the best years of my life. Well, the social aspect of the university is not what I had a problem with. First of all, the campus is so spread out, that I had to schedule my classes with at least a half hour to forty-five minutes in between to allow myself travel time to my next class. Essentially, I day of five classes would take a total of eight hours. Secondly, the professors here are awful. I have yet to have a professor that can even pretend to care about a student...they're only care is either their status or their bell-curve. To those that are looking at going to a school in the state of Michigan, my advice would be to look at U of M, Central, Wayne, etc. From what I here from friends at those universities, their experiences has been the antithesis of mine at MSU.

Question
Overall Michigan State Academically is everything I couldQuite BrightZoology
Overall Michigan State Academically is everything I could have hoped for. The bad points are that the campus is gigantic and I find myself trying to get to class a mile away (no exaggeration) at 8:00 in the morning in the thick of january, and the students seem to always want to drink. Substance abuse seems to dominate social activities for the most part. I personally am not into Big 10 sports very much so thats my own personal thing, and I'm not looking for the Van Wilder experience. So it's not for me, but you get what you want if you look in the right places - and if you like Busch Lite...

The J-school at MSU is thoroughly corrupted by bureaucratic politics. Don't fool yourselves, the sole purpose for the 'Knight Center' at the school is to keep the school running, not to advance environmental journalism. It's a sham. They're very elitist when they have absolutely nothing to be elite, let alone proud, of. International students are social outcasts and so is anyone without some hidden political agenda. I worked my butt off, was honest and integral and it did nothing for me here. Everything I got, I got on my own.
