I'm attending MSU as a second-degree student, which I did not originally plan on doing, but I figured it would be good to do since I moved to MI with my fianc? who is attending MSU Law. I got in without a problem, but MSU denied my request to be considered an in-state student (originally from NY state). They denied me on a technicality, and when I asked what would happen if I were to repair that issue, the registrar made it clear that there would always be technicalities to deny me with. I have been denied any financial assistance, even though I have shown financial need. I love my program, but overall I refer to MSU as Money Sucking Uberdouches, because that's what they are. They discriminate against non-MI students, so if you're not from the state, don't go here and expect equal treatment, which is so totally contrary to the land grant university history that they enjoy touting so much. They will charge you 3x the tuition rate and refuse you ANY scholarships or grants. Just beware and don't buy their bullshit about helping out their needy students.

Basically what i've come to learn, is that for the most part, you make your own experience at a college.

I spent a lot of time last year scrutinizing and analyzing what was the best fit for me. There were pros and cons to each college, and it was hard for me to decide. But, in the end I chose MSU and loved it. I love its beautiful campus and its Big Ten status. I love the sports and diversity, and have really made a great group of friends in my hall. However I don't necessarily like the size of all my classes, and to be honest, you are a number.

With that being said, i'm sure it would have benn the same deal if i went to wmu, or uofm, or gvsu, etc. You make your college experience. Just be optimistic wherever you go.p.s. but if your still on the bubble, MSU has by far the BEST parties in the state. Its fricken crazy here. And it is definately a very good looking campus, lots of hot girls, and competition for guys.
