I am a senior Literature major at UNCAQuite BrightEnglish
I am a senior Literature major at UNCA graduating in December of 2014. I transferred in from a private university the second semester of my sophomore year. It was winter when I came and I was not used to the cold which sucked at first but I grew to like it. I was really scared coming in that as a transfer I would not be able to make friends and that everyone had probably already gotten into groups like some of the other comments say but I found it wasn't like that at all. My first week here I joined the huge chorus class to fulfill my art requirement and the girl in front of me invited me out with her friends. Mostly everyone at UNCA is really friendly and not at all like I had imagined. Although many people make friend groups when they come in as freshman, they usually do not keep the same friends throughout the four years. There are many opportunities to anyone who is willing to go to things. Even just getting a job or going to class and you can usually find someone who is willing to hang out. The teachers are amazing. I did not LOVE all the teachers I have had (I also was part of the accounting and music departments) but every teacher I have had has been more than willing to make time for me and they really seemed to want me to do well. I'm not going to sugar coat it, if you are transferring and are away from friends and family like I was, the first roughly 6-9 months will probably be a little tough on you. I tried to pretend like I wasn't having a hard time but really now that I think back it wasn't ideal. I promise that if you work through it, you will really grow to love UNCA and the people and teachers here. I love my roommates and my classes and if I was asked to transfer, I wouldn't dream of it.

Awesome school and super nice people.Quite BrightBiology
Awesome school and super nice people. All of my professors (with the exception of a couple of professors in the math department) have been excellent so far; they're always willing to take time to help you understand the material and want you to do well. If you love the outdoors and friendly, down to earth people then this school is for you. Only downside is that a lot of the students smoke and drink a lot but I guess that's like any college.

I was accepted toBrightBiology
I was accepted to numerous top ranked universities and I visited dozens of campuses before deciding to attend UNCA. I am from the west coast and in my opinion if word ever gets out about this beautiful quaint little town and college, it will be inundated with students from that region.
