Marist is a beautiful campus which incorporates the needs of each individual student. It is small enough where you know many familiar faces, yet still big enough that you see new people everyday. The atmosphere of Marist was what made me want to attend; it is a close knit community that is welcoming of all.

Question
I am a graduating senior and I cannotQuite BrightBiology
I am a graduating senior and I cannot tell you how bittersweet this moment is to me. I have enjoyed every moment of my time here at Marist (even when I was on academic probation). The staff here really treat you like a person, not just another cog in the wheel. If you read comments that saw otherwise it's because that person wasn't right for Marist. If you are introverted, spoiled and expect people to kiss your ass at every moment go somewhere else. This is not the school for you. If you won't apply yourself in class and have a thirst for knowledge then yes, you won't do well here. I've noticed comments about affirmative action and I can tell you, it's not what you think. Historically, affirmative action has benefited white females at Marist college, not minorities. So don't listen to anyone who tells you that if you're a minority you're guaranteed a spot in the incoming class. You have to work just as hard and prove yourself equally. The reason why some people with great grades dont get in is because ALL colleges take from different tiers. Great grades aren't an indication of other types of intelligence so don't rely on those alone. Do community service and be an active member of your community. Visit the school as much as possible to get acquainted and get the admissions counselors to know you (it helps a lot!). And yes, there are tons of white people here. White people are everywhere, deal with it. I'm black and I've been fine here. It prepares you for the real world so it's not a big deal.
