What is best about Marist College is theQuite BrightPsychology
What is best about Marist College is the faculty. They have great availability and are extremely approachable. This allows a student to have a huge number of opportunities that would not be available at a larger school with a larger graduate program. Excellent place for undergraduate education, and the liberal arts aspect is awesome. Being able to take a bit of everything has been very fun and I feel as though I have a large base of knowledge rather than simply being specialized in only one area.

Question
Marist was overall a good experience.Quite BrightComputer Science
Marist was overall a good experience. The academics were only moderately challenging, but I had no problem getting a job with my degree.

(started at 65k+ a year at a prestigious investment bank) Granted, this might have been due to my internships (IBM) and personal ability in perusing jobs. Still, I never felt that Marist held me back in any way, and I had a good time with my friends, despite not being a preppy tri-state rich boy.

I would recommend Marist to anyone who is not one of two thigns:
Gay
a minority
All my friends who were either of those have regretted it. You might have a fine time with it if you are Black, but if you are Gay, forget it. Marist is an ex-catholic school, and they won't appreciate you. (You will not be able to live an open life there).

Oh yes, and for a private school it is pretty cheap. Basically a private school education at a 25-30% discount.

Pros:
Cheap
Decent education
Extra Curriculars are AWESOME
Great Sports (and you can walk on too, if you are decent)
Quick train to NYC
Cons:
Social Scene is all bars (not a fan)
Homogeneous
Anti-gay social atmosphere
Self involved student body
A little too conservative for an educational body
Isolated (but not more then some other schools)
It is what you make of it, opportunities are there, you just have to seek them out. Plenty of my friends went to grad school, and with ease. Academics are major specific in quality.

I would attend again.

Question
I think Marist is the best school forBrightEnglish
I think Marist is the best school for people who are active, well-rounded students who love to get involved. There is always SO much going on around campus and I'm NEVER bored at school. Every weekend, there is a free movie, comedian, or coffeehouse concert for students to see or if you want to go out, there are parties and bars to go to. I like that Marist gives you fun options for the weekend if you just want to stay in. In terms of academics, I love that Marist is challenging but isn't cut-throat. I think too many schools (like Ivy leagues) focus too much on building a resume and on getting a high GPA and they lose sight of what's important about college: learning and developing. While Marist urges its students to get good grades, they also urge students to get involved on campus and to build our characters and not just our resumes. I love the friendly atmosphere at Marist and the way that it really turns into your home and your family.
