Honestly, I hated the school when I firstQuite BrightOther
Honestly, I hated the school when I first got here, but I gave it a chance and it really paid off. It's out of the way enough so you are not right in the city, but you are still only about 45 minutes either way from Newport or Providence, both of which are fantastic. The people are very friendly, at least the ones I have met, and like to have a good time. Dorms and campus are well maintained and the classes are small. If you like to have time to yourself as well as time with others, focus on your work as well as party, this school is great! And the food is amazing too!

Question
If you're applying to the engineering or architectureSuper Brilliant
If you're applying to the engineering or architecture school, refrain from reading the reveiws on here and talk to someone that goes to one of those two colleges within the university, rather than reading online. On here, you'll get a lot of jaded people from the business school that think they know everything about post-secondary education. Fact is, they don't. The engineering program here is SUPER intimate, none of my classes were over 35 people, and the higher you go, the smaller it gets.

Question
The school has a deceptive campus.Quite BrightCommunications
The school has a deceptive campus. Upon touring most applicants will probably have a good feeling towards their potential life at this school, but it not so hot. Here is basically what defines the school.

Campus: The campus is GORGEOUS. I'll give it that. The buildings have thought out architecture and for the most part go together. It's easy to fall in love with this picturesque water surrounded school. The bridge is gorgeous especially at night. I'll miss it.

Social Life: Don't get your hopes up because there is non. After Freshman year people become very cliquish and its hard to meet people. Campus police are getting super strict on booze so even having a successful party is difficult. In the all freshman dorm they even have people who check your bags when you go in, as if it were airport security. Because the campus is so closed off the social life on campus is very removed from the parties off campus. This isn't where you should go if you want a typically college experience. At times it can feel so small it feels more like a boarding school life.

Classes: I hardly felt challenged and I consider myself a minor slacker.Surrounding Area: The great thing about the school is they provide you with a free bus pass that will basically get you anywhere in Rhode Island. RIPTA runs literally all over the state so when the school is being lame you can escape away to Newport or Providence. Granted they aren't exactly Palm Beach and the big apple but they aren't terrible either. Also, because the campus is so small there are very few jobs and getting one off campus is difficult too because there are also tons of unemployed locals.
