UVA, despite hype, is a third-rate school.BrightAnthropology
UVA, despite hype, is a third-rate school. Its facilities in almost every area but athletics are falling down -- you would find better space for graduate students than is provided for many faculty. Good faculty are chased away, and only the brown-nosers hang around. Don't waste your money or your time.

I wish I would have elected to goBusiness - Management and Administration
I wish I would have elected to go to UNC! UVA has a nice campus, very comparable to other campuses in the area, but average. I feel that my education would have been better if I had went else where. There is a good social scene on campus if you are into fake tans, big hair and fake nails and that is just the men! I grew up on the east coast and it was like going to the "wrong part of the shore".

Question
Everyone here is incredibly close minded.Quite BrightPsychology
Everyone here is incredibly close minded. Greek life DOMINATES the social scene. If you don't like sororities/fraternities do not and i reapeat do NOT come here. The greek system is huge--they create an exclusive and closed enviroment that only promotes cliquy-ness and exclusiveness. Almost everyone I have met has an eliest attitude towards everything!! As an out of state student, it was hard making friends because EVERYONE had a predetermined group of friends from high school. Fellow out of staters are really hard to find and the in state population is nearly impossible to befriend.

This school is incredibly preppy and southern. I wasnt a huge fan of it since I'm from New York and am a liberal. You are almost forced to be like the majority and UVa does not value individuality. I am not a loser who sits alone in their room, i am incredibly sociable and love going out and making friends, but it was just so hard at UVa. I hate it & i am transfering to a more diverse and accepting school next fall.Don't be lured in by the beautiful campus and so called "tight knight" community. If you are an out of stater, dont like the greek system, arent preppy/rich, and have any individual value, this place is hell.
