Michigan State University has changed my life soNot so brightTelecommunications
Michigan State University has changed my life so much that I don't even know where to start so I will get to the point.

My Life BEFORE Michigan State University:

I'm from Southern California.
I'm Hispanic.
Had no Father figure whatsoever in my life.
Southern California made me superficial.
Money, Cars, Social Status consumed my mind, body and soul.
I was ignorant.
I hated life.
I had no confidence.
I thought that EVERYONE was better than me.
I had the lowest self-esteem ever.
I had no self-respect.
I was scatter brained.
I had no direction.
I always took up stereotypical labor jobs because thats what I thought my self-worth was.
I was always, always depressed.
I contemplated Suicide many times.
I thought that the white man was always here to hold hispanics down and I also thought that the white man had everything.

and the list can go on and on......
My Life AFTER Michigan State University:

I'm still from Southern California
I'm still Hispanic
I consider MSU a stepfather to me because of the experiences and education that it has provided me.
I am now a humble and grounded person.
I Look forward to Life now
I Look Forward to MY Future
I found MY Self-Confidence.
I have self-respect.
I have purpose.
I have direction.
I have substance.
My newly found confidence has helped me to overcome depression.
I now find myself applying to jobs with starting salaries of $60,000+
I realize that white America is not here to hold minorities down. The student body is mostly white and I have made many great friends. I never experienced any racism. If anything I realized that there are a lot of white Americans who are poor and who are struggling to make it through college. It was an eye opener for me.

Overall I cannot put a price tag on my experiences at MSU. It changed my life. I feel that I could not have gotten these life changing experiences from most other universities. I did have tough times but I stuck it out. I learned perseverance. I was better for it in the end and believe me I went through some sh!t but I made it through and got my degree. I found who I was in the process.

Go Green!Go White!Go Spartans!
oh yeah, two more things, MSU has Tom Izzo, ha, he's the sh!t and MSU has the best looking white chicks ever.

Because I'm from out-of-state, people always ask me why I came and if it was a good decision. Coming to State has been one of the best decisions I've ever made! The campus is huge, but offers many great opportunities to explore and meet new people. There are campus activities and movies EVERY weekend for free, as well as Grand River, a stretch of shops and restaurants which cater to anyone's tastes. Our study abroad program is world renowned, and our school spirit is awesome during football season. I've met a great group of friends who have followed me into my third year of school, and I'll be sad to leave in 2007!

Question
State likes to brag about the study abroadQuite BrightAstronomy
State likes to brag about the study abroad program, I haven't had a chance to be a part it of yet, but from hearsay I believe is quite excellent. What I do know a bit about is their physics and astronomy department. I don't knowledge to compare it with other schools, but it is a fantastic program.

READ THIS IF YOU WANT To KNOW ABOUT PHYSICS
The physics department is bolstered by the presence of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, a premier facility for the research of rare isotopes (for studying questions like the origin of the heavy elements). What's more, it is possible for undergraduate students to get involved with research. The department is large but it has fantastic professors. Students seem friendly, from what I hear from the upperclassmen that I know there is much working together so it's not likely to be cut-throat. Moreover, I believe the program commands a bit of respect; if you do well, get involved and establish relationships with some professors you will have a solid application if you wish apply to grad school-so don't over look this place because it is not one of the "big name" universities.

READ THIS IF YOU DON'T CARE TO KNOW ABOUT PHYSICS OR IF YOU ARE READING IT ALL
State has a beautiful campus, many gardens, innumerable trees, and varying architecture. It's got a planetarium-how cool is that?-which is pretty neat, I've gone there so I know. The school of music has concerts which are most often free too. Those are some things you don't really hear about- intrinsic benefits of going there.

The Lyman Briggs School of Science is a good program for those interested in science, especially pre-professional paths. Classes are in the dorm in which you'll probably live as part of the program, and it is quite convenient to be a flight of stairs away from the chem lab...if the lab is at 8AM. In sum, don't sell this school short, its worth a good look and so far I'm quite happy I went there.
