The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill

The social life is nice as are the students and some teachers. A large majority of them don't care about students in the slightest. We could have a shooting in a class they'd still be uninterested in our well being. A good bit of departments think they are far better than they are and it's pretty sickening.

3rd Year Male -- Class 2015

I am very upset and have a lot of shame towards Carolina at this time. With my beloved university being exposed for years of cheating (which there were many students who graduated with me at the time which knew that athletes were given grades and false classes), the reputation has taken a major hit and I feel like I cannot even support Carolina any more until the university comes clean and cleans up athletics. I use to be proud to say that I graduated from UNC but now I hold my head down as others think that my degree is a joke. I am staying strong but my advice to incoming students is to just enjoy your time no matter which university you choose.

Alumnus Male -- Class 2000

UNC is a great graduate school and, if I had to do over, i would wait til graduate school to go here. As an undergraduate, the education is just too impersonal and not worth the extra out of state expense. It is a big state school with big classes and a huge range of ability among the student population. If you are southern and enjoy Greek life and big time sports, this is the place for you. I did not find this to be an intellectually stimulating environment and it was fairly easy to get good grades. Be forewarned, there is a lot of cheating in the large classes. Many profs recycle their old tests year after year. Be sure to make friends with others so you can have access to these materials!
