Academics at Marist is a joke.Quite BrightCommunications
Academics at Marist is a joke. There is not a single class that Ive taken so far that I would consider challenging. interesting or of any value whatsoever. Most of the students miss at least 7 or more classes and get by just fine. And, Most of the faculty are pitifully underpaid adjuncts that have either retired from some other industry. So don't pay any attention to the self-promoting crap on Marist's webpage because it is misleading including the claim that there are 800 faculty members because over 500 of them are part-time and teach only one class. My sister goes to a SUNY school where every single professor that she has is full time and has a PhD. This compared to Marist where I has a couple of teachers that only had bachelor's degrees. I swear, half the students are like the special ed kids in my high school.

The Campus at Marist is beautiful, no doubt about it, and they must spend a large percentage of our tuition keeping it that way. The surrounding area however ..... well be warned because it's unsafe and several people that I know have been victims of robbery and/or sexual assault ...... so BE WARNED!!! Several times a semester we get emails from the campus safety people informing us of a crime on a Marist student. Do not go outside your dorm or on the streets of Poughleepsie because it is NOT safe, especially for females.

Oh yeah, another thing is that Marist is over 60% female. We all look like a bunch of Stepford wives ..... pretty, cute, overdressed, and not too bright.

So, in conclusion .... if you want to party go to Marist, if you are looking for an easy school go to Marist. If you are halfway serious about school and want a challenge .... go somewhere else.

The minute you arrive you are given a number - no one cares about your name or where you come from. If any personal problems should arise involving family or friends, the guidance department is quick to judge and quick to offer no help. I would advise everyone to stay as far away from this school as possible - you will learn nothing of value here.

Question
Marist's educational quality is not the problem atBrightEnglish
Marist's educational quality is not the problem at all. It is the social atmosphere. Little is done on campus and house parties and bars are the places to go. I know several people have referred to the campus as "Jersey Shore" college. It is not widely known as a party school, but it most definitely is. So easy to smuggle stuff in and people party every day of the week.
