I am highly considering transferring out of Marist.Bright
I am highly considering transferring out of Marist. The students are all rich/snooty from New York and Connecticut. All people do at night is go into Poughkeepsie which is a SKETCHYYYY town!!! Marist lacks school spirit and the campus often seems dead during the afternoons of weekends. On the other hand, the education level is very good. I do not recommend it!

Question
I truly despise Marist college as far asQuite BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
I truly despise Marist college as far as the individuals who attend the school are concerned. I was in between schools and kinda got suckered by my family into going there. I hated it from the moment I attended, but the only way for me to get financial assistance from my family was to go there. I don't know how else I could have afforded to go to college as it is difficult to get a loan on one's own.

There is only one type of student at Marist; upper middle class rich kids. The are mostly conservative and if you are the littlest bit different from them, you will not have many friends. These people are dense, alcoholic, materialistic individuals who reply to what I just typed would be "You're just jealous."

The saving grace for me is the history professors. They are all extremely intelligent and helpful. If it wasn't for faculty, I would have quit a long time ago. If you are close-minded and conservative, this is the school for you. If not, run. Run for your lives! I will never miss this college once I leave.

Question
I attended Marist my first semester as aQuite BrightUndecided
I attended Marist my first semester as a freshman and hated absolutly everything about the experience except the fact that I came out with a best friend - who also hated it and transfered out the same time as I did.

Maybe the school just is not meant for people from Connecticut that are lacking the New York mentality, but of the 6 kids I knew from Connectut that were in the same graduating class as me, only 1 is still at the college.

I liked nothing about the people there. The students were all prissy boys and girls who had to have everything their way. They were very high maintenence. My roomates had tiffanys ordered and called their parents to have them left under their pillow for when they came home for a weekend.

Also, I wasnt a fan of this, but I know some people are. It is a bar school. everyone goes to the bar from tuesday through sunday and maybe takes monday off. If even. Plus its big money. You need to pay for taxis to get to eh bar and back plus you need to pay to get in once you are there and then for drinks later.

Also, office hours were hard for me to find. I attend the university of connecticut now and office hours couldnt be more helpful or easier to find. It makes Marist look horrible.

The food is horrible as well. I had to spend alot of money eating out because the schools food was unacceptable basically if your not from NY your not accepted
