I actually love KSU.Quite BrightPsychology
I actually love KSU. If I had any complaints, it would be that the Psychology undergrad courses are almost always taught by grad students; professors typically only teach if it's a special topics course. Also, the university spends money pretty frivolously (like buying Lester Lefton a $15,000 golf cart to drive around campus) & sidewalks aren't shoveled in winter + class never gets cancelled for BAD weather.

I'm also a Studio Art student. The art faculty can be a little pretentious at times, & they have EXTREMELY high expectations from art students & try to consider themselves a professional art school (like SAIC-level). They do Sophomore Review, where they have the ability to kick you out if you're an Art major (I'm just a minor & skipped this). However, all the professors are really fun & usually funny, & will go out to have a cigarette & awesome conversations with their students. However, research is really easy to get involved in, teaching faculty in all majors / fields are easy to talk to, student organizations are really easy to get involved in, & Dining Services is EXTREMELY helpful. They put in full, huge menus & a lot of effort to make the school really vegetarian & vegan friendly, AND it takes amazing. I love the primarily liberal atmosphere & how "hippie" the entire town is (downtown Kent is adorable & the community is easy to be involved in too!). Awesome school, definitely deserves a positive review & A's.

Question
I am thinking about going to CCAD andNot so bright
I am thinking about going to CCAD and I see so many mixed reviews from people and it is just hilarious. Most of you say it is a terrible school because you have a lot of work to do? The reason you pay to go to college is not to party and skip class and think you can get buy. The reason you go to school is to learn and for them to give you as much work as possible so when you start your professional career you understand the concepts of hard work and how to complete a project. About 80% of the post I just read sounds like these kids do not even like art in the first place and just think they can get an easy degree just because it is an art school, if you want to color go the store and buy a coloring book. I also noticed kids crying about money problems and driving to school... This is a $26,000 school in the heart of columbus which 1 bed 1 bath apartments are around 180k. Don't make this school sound bad just because you are poor. Everything I have seen from this school has been nothing but fantastic. I would imagine if you are interested in a college and most of a basically a private college you would want to work your ass off and not complain. So for those of you who went here and thought it would be easy, not expensive and for those who want to just meet kids so you can party I would imagine everyone college is not for you and as far as a career goes... you think this was an intense work load..... good luck with that and maybe you should shoot for something more like a Burger King Manager.

Question
Transferring from Kent State University to Ohio StateQuite BrightJournalism
Transferring from Kent State University to Ohio State University was, by far, the best decision of my life. Let me start with the positives about Kent. The campus it beautiful and the black squirrels are just adorable. The bus system (PARTA) is a great asset to the campus. They're convenient, clean and a time saver. Some buildings (like Franklin hall, the math and science building and Kent hall) are new and very nice. The gym is awesome too. The dorms here have pod style bathrooms which were great and compared to some of the other dorms I've seen, they're pretty nice. Now for the negatives. Look up Kent State's graduation and retention rates. 50% graduation and 48% retention rate. That's pathetic, even Toledo and Bowling Green State have better numbers than that. I hated being here. I know the university can't control the weather but they could at least salt the walkways and streets when it snows (which is 90% of the time). I've taken a tumble many times and watched as other students did too. Please don't be mistaken, you are just a 'money generating unit' here (yes, Lester did use the exact words in the quote). The campus spends money on unnecessary, down right stupid things (like clock towers, bacon sculptures and Lestor's vacations to Italy). They need to spend money on renovating the old buildings, scholarships and math classes that are not online. Most of the classes that I took here were a JOKE. I thought I would be challenged and learn...nope! Most professors don't care and offer so much extra credit that it's hard not to get an A. Parking is terrible, you'll get at least 10 tickets during your time here. If you're not in to getting drunk at random homes then you're going to be pretty bored on Thursday and the weekends. Most students live close to campus (Canton, Akron, Hudson), and choose to go home on the weekends (after Thirsty Thursday). The campus is so vacant Fridays-Sundays, and pretty boring. Overall, I felt like I did not receive an education worth $40,000. I learned nothing valuable here and was miserable. It was not just me, everyone I knew was either trying to transfer or hated being there as much as I did. My former roommate and neighbor were both diagnosed with depression after arriving to Kent. I watched as their spirits broke and it was just so sad. I know someone is going to think 'oh she's just a slacker and hates school'. Not true. Now that I'm at Ohio State I am learning soooooooooo much here and I feel like my professors care about my future. My grades are better. I'm happier. Please, read these reviews and take them to heart. We're not just all bitter people, something is very wrong when over 60% of reviews are negative.
