Positive Negative Neutral Advice
If you are looking for an open-minded, personalQuite BrightBiology
If you are looking for an open-minded, personal growth type of school, then RUN elsewhere. This is the type of place where right wing church groups hold anti-gay rallies while the administration tickets you for smoking ANYWHERE on campus. The classes are very basic, the parking is horrendous, Edmond is a little po-dunk town with a cop on every other corner, the students are overwhelmingly republican and christian. I would recommend this school to anyone who enjoyed the restrictive, punitive environment of high school. You would be crazy to spend money on this place, I'm transferring out ASAP.

Question
Although the university is well located, the surroundingBrightBiology
Although the university is well located, the surrounding city is pathetic at best. Coming from out of state(Colorado), I've been extremely spoiled in the city life department. Oklahoma City has Bricktown to offer, a good time...for the first month. Surroundings aside, UCO has many good programs, extremely efficient, competitive ones. However, the Biology department is not one of them. I feel that I am not being completely prepared to be completely aggresive in the application process for medical school. My suggestion is to do your research before coming. If you are interested in Criminal Justice, Funeral Sciences or Business, definitely take a second look. But if another school tickles your fancy, jump at the oppurtunity to get away from UCO.

Question
I will echo what others have been saying.BrightEconomics
I will echo what others have been saying. If you're in college for the education, and almost would rather not be around the "college experience" riffraff, then UCO is DEFINITELY the place for you. The professors are top notch. They are very well educated and personable, and unlike other big public universities, they are very accessible. If you are wanting to go to UCO for anything other than the classwork and quality professors, than I suggest you look elsewhere. If you are not a commuter/do not have a house, family, etc., then you will find yourself in the minority at UCO. As such, the college often cater to the working commuters and offer some classes exclusively at night. Campus involvement is very low, though if you want to find a leadership position or take on a challenge, this could be a plus. The only other significant problem I have encountered at UCO is the Enrollment Management segment: anything having to do with financial aid, admissions, or advisement is over-stretched, and very unhelpful. As an example, there are only 4 freshman advisors to cover 5000 entering freshman. Because they are overworked, they are very unfriendly. Basically, if you are wanting to get that little piece of paper and get a good education along the way, then your money will be well spent here. If you are a traditional student and wanted college to provide you with activities and be this amazing 4 years out of your life...DON'T apply within.
