Faculty in the departmentBrightBiology
Faculty in the department are pretty cool. There are mostly pro-student professors and a few very negative people. Avoid the negative ones. Research is OK, although some professors don't do much. Try and find someone who will work with you.

Question
This university is dominated by its commuter, working,Quite BrightComputer Science
This university is dominated by its commuter, working, transfer, non traditional students. It offers courses at varying times to accomidate all students. This is the primary reason that I attended and will soon graduate from this university.

Unfortunately, quality is not the hallmark of this university. I have always perfered working to attending college, but realize the value of a college degree. This is the third universiy that I have attended in my life (the university of michigan 1yr, southern illinois 2yrs). It is by far the least competitive and poorest funded. While calculus is calculus, no mater where you take it, this university tends to have less demanding and creative course work and easy exam policies (drop you lowest test score). Facilities in my major, computer science, are out of date, mismanaged, and without staff. The university pays all professors in all department a flat noncompetitive salary, reguardless of their field which resulted in the lose of most of the full time computer science professors and lose of quality instrustors in my major and in other competitive fields (business). At this time, I would not recommend this school to perspective computer science majors though some improvements are being made.

I know many people that are satisfied with the quality of education they have recieved, noteably a recent graduate in chemistry that went on to graduate school. In my opinion, the quality of undergraduate education is mostly determined by each students effort, and an education can be obtained here. Professors and instructors are also very open to students, and this may be a good place for someone that still needs to do some growing after high school.

But if you are looking for the "classic" college experience, this probably is not the place for you, the quality of the students, lack of off or on campus activities, lack of student body character or image, make this university seems like a 4 year junior college.
