Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Don't be fooled by Temple.Quite BrightFinance
Don't be fooled by Temple. I went here because the Fox school of business seemed good and the buildings where state of the art. But, when your in, they push you aside...YOUR JUST A NUMBER. I remember reading the negative reviews about Temple and simply disregarded them, especially the ones about students being attacked. I'm a football player, 6'3 264 pounds and just figured all these victims where little, puny, and just stupid so I just disregarded them. I assumed that there was no way I would ever get jumped/ attacked. I was wrong. I did what the school, and students say to do (because its north philly, its not Princeton) and STAY IN A GROUP and WALK ALONG BROAD. I was in a group of 5 guys (all about my size) walking along Broad on campus, and were jumped for no reason. A neighborhood kid was just looking for a fight. So he spotted us out and then got his boys and anyone he could get, to jump us. FIGHTS AT TEMPLE AREN'T JUST ONE VS. ONE... THEY ALWAYS HAVE A GANG MENTALITY AND FIGHT IN NUMBERS, AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, THEY GOT A GUN. JUST READ A PAPER. THEY GO FOR BLOOD. Five guys jumped on me and the rest on my friends. (not only was this happening, Temple POLICE just drove by... they are just rent-a-cops and only care about their paycheck) Long story short, they fled into the subway and we were rushed to the hospital. (by the way, they $charge$ you even if you were jumped on campus... ya $5453.87 later). The police did nothing except point out that a couple were TEMPLE upperclassmen that were involved and simply brushed this aside. Im glad I'm out of Temple. 3 out of my 4 professors couldn't speak English. and the social life is not what I expected... You walk around for hours in the ghetto looking for parties (bring your wallet, they charge) and then you finally found one. You get in and there are 200 frosh standing around a keg in a rundown frat house. Overall, my classes were a joke, and the kids are ghetto or just trying to be ghetto. If you want to go and spend 36000 a year to truly live in "the hood", Temple is for you. The sirens and gunshots just really put you to sleep!

Question
Do not come in as undeclared.Quite BrightPsychology
Do not come in as undeclared. They are no help in helping you decide on a good major. When you do find a major you're interested in the counseling faculty of that major acts as though you are bothering them by asking them questions about the major. They are not helpful in speaking to you and telling you what is needed, they just point you to a website with information and do not try to explain anything to you. I have a sociology minor and it's the same way with their department. I thought it was just the college of liberal arts, but I have friends in the college of education and they feel the same way. The advisors do not try to help you pick proper classes so you can graduate on time. They want you to stay as long as possible to pay the ridiculous tuition that the education you're receiving is not even worth. If I knew before I entered what I know now, I would've went to Penn.

Question
If you're looking for a school look anywhereQuite BrightArt & Design Department
If you're looking for a school look anywhere OTHER THAN Temple U. The financial aid department is the worst I've EVER seen. You can call their financial aid help line non-stop from 8am-5pm when their open and never get anything other than a busy signal, yet go walk in the building and see nothing but an empty waiting area and workers watching tv. The teachers are arrogant and half the time don't speak english fluently or even well enough to put together a proper sentence so you spend half of class attempting to figure out what their talking about rather than learning what you should. They claim campus is safe yet the cops on bikes do nothing but ride around and talk to each other in the campus 7/11 store or next to the on-campus bar. Half the rooms in the school aren't used because their not smart-rooms or air conditioned and smell like old moldy air. The bathrooms in some rooms look like they go a whole week before being cleaned! If i had known what I know NOW about Temple I would have looked anywhere. I'm graduating and applying for grad school somewhere else instead of wasting my money at Temple.
