Had fairly high test scores but apparently didn't check enough of the boxes at the Ivy schools, Rice or Vanderbilt. Wound up being the best thing that could have ever happened to me. People were great...honors program put me in with like highly motivated people and I have never looked back....awesome time and education....ton of internship opportunities so far...having to turn down jobs and I am a junior.

People go here to party and get married. I should've spent money on my education (as opposed to a free ride).... The priority if this school is unacceptable.

This is an outstanding university with an outstanding reputation.
So before you apply to SMU you need to know the type of university it is. It IS predominantly rich and white, but it is also a very much "work hard, play hard" environment. That said, your best bet for a great social life is to join a Greek fraternity.

This school is very much reminiscent of life in itself. It is a beautiful campus, in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country. There are ALOT of resources and ALOT of opportunity. HOWEVER, if you come here you MUST be prepared to work hard, have ambition, have high goals and carry and present yourself well. Are there superficial people here? YES, this is SMU lol. What were you expecting? There is very high pressure to be successful and succeed. Due to the school's location and great reputation, all you need to do is put in the EFFORT and opportunity is there. But you must still PUT IN THE EFFORT!

The last time I checked... It wasn't a bad thing to be good looking, smart, ambitious, and successful was it? So if you can understand the kind of school that SMU is, it may be perfect for you!
