Question
I hate this place.AverageBiology
I hate this place. Do not come here if you want to make friends in ways other than partying. People at UVA are so focused on their career plans that they don't spend time getting to know many people. Throughout life I never had trouble having friends, but I feel like I have no friends at UVA (ok a few).

The coursework is also very challenging and many of the classes are large, so many tests are scantron based. I always do worse on multiple choice tests than written/essay/short answer tests, so this really harms me. I feel like the only thing going for me in the prospects of finding a job is UVA's name.To make matters worse, the housing and dining situations at UVA are not impressive. UVA housing is spread out far away from classes and the dining hall food is terrible. Please just go somewhere else while you have the chance.

Question
I transferred here for UVa's name.BrightPreMed and Medical
I transferred here for UVa's name. As a pre-med student, you want to get straight A's, and it helps to get straight A's from a big name university.

However, I now quite clearly see my transfer was a mistake. At my old university (another VA school, not a community college), I was treated as an individual and professors were always available. Here, professors have told me straight that their research is more important than their students. Go to this school if you are willing to work on your own to get involved in the research community. In that sense, UVa is a great school. As a pre-med, though, I'm in my 3rd year, and I still have classes with over 400 kids. It is ridiculous. Not only did my old school not have TAs, but, now, even in TA office hours there are over 15-20 students. There is no individual attention.
