I studied hard in high school and made goodAug 21 2019Finance
I studied hard in high school and made good grades. I graduated top 10 in high school and was member of national honor society, etc. I did not score great on my SAT, even with studying. Others that scored great on the SAT and went to Princeton University, committed suicide.

I had a 4.2 weighted GPA, 33 ACT, 2200 SAT, 12 AP and 8 IB courses in high school, alongside decent extracurricular and volunteer experience. Baylor gives good merit scholarships and that was one of the reason I picked them. I think this campus helped me shine, I would've been a nobody at UT's huge campus.

Baylor is going to accept a few blacks in to make them look like they are a fair college.

I applied straight out of high school and didn'tMay 10 2015Psychology
I applied straight out of high school and didn't get in (no shocker, i had senioritis junior year!) I went to a community college for two years including both summers, with my goal set on transferring to baylor. I didn't do well my second semester but I eventually got my gpa up to a 3.1 after the second summer but applied in February with a 2.8 or so gpa.
It's definitely easier to transfer into Baylor than it is to just go straight from high school IMO. But be careful with the classes you take! If you know what major you want when you transfer, 1. make sure you know the degree course requirements and the variable classes! ( Call the transfer office they're VERY helpful!) 2. Don't register for a course without checking course equivalence FIRST on baylor's website! (don't go by the list your juco or comm. college says SHOULD transfer) 3. If you can, take AND FINISH : spanish requirements, math requirements, art, and english/ social science requirements, at your school you're transferring from! I say take and finish the requirement, because sometimes, even if the class transfer, sometimes it's 10x's harder to do well in Baylor's courses if you don't have a rigorous teacher or if your classes weren't as in depth as Baylor's. Spanish is recommended prior to baylor just because it's super hard! and i feel it's a rule of thumb to try to finish english and social science classes first. 4. Just incase the classe(s) you took don't transfer, it's possible to get them evaluated for credit. Baylor is expensive, but you get what you pay for, anyone who says you don't hasn't looked at the tools available or is just ungrateful. Transferring is about $100,000 cheaper (and in some ways easier) if you transfer from a juco if you follow my advice!
Oh, and to the high school students, more specifically the ones who don't plan to transfer and the ones who are still freshmen and sophomores, don't waste your time with AP, Honors, or Dual-credit. The only way it benefits you is if 1. you transfer in from a juco/ comm college, 2. If you take and FINISH the course in HS or at a juco, or 3. the class you take is not going towards your major. So, granted you do well enough to actually receive credit in though courses, those "special classes" are pretty much like stickers. When it comes to college admins, it's fluff that can be looked over and given a pat on the back for, but it won't help you succeed or get into Baylor.
