Its basically a community college that calls itself a university. Expect another 4 years of high school. The administration does not even try to hide their contempt for students. You are treated as a number and a source of income. No one cares if you learn anything, or even graduate. No student life at all, because no one cares enough about UAA to actually do anything, and even if students tried to do something fun the administration would stop it. The only reason to go to this university is if you are desperate, have no money, or an extreme amount of self loathing. And by the time you finish your degree at UAA you'll have all three!

Question
UAA is a great college.Quite BrightOther
UAA is a great college. Education is what you make of it, and there are numerous opportunities to get involved and take an active role in your educational career. Faculty are approachable, and the university strives to make all students feel accepted. There are great cultural events, language opportunities, and many quality extracurricular activities. I have loved all my professors so far. They seem engaged, passionate in their fields, and want us to succeed.

Question
I was a national student exchange student fromQuite BrightAnthropology
I was a national student exchange student from USD to UAA. I asked over and over again if I was on the clear, all paperwork was finished and everything in line to go to Alaska. I was told yes. Until July came around and my financial aid wasn't coming in. No award letter of any kind. I called and called and asked what was going on but my phone call was bounced around from person to person in UAA financial aid office and student services. I found out what happened to my financial aid a week before classes started myself by navigating around UAonlines website for a few hours. I had to switch my plan and do USDs tuition to pay for classes. Not only that but UAA messed up my housing application and I did not have a place to stay after arriving in Alaska. I was forced to couch surf till I found an apartment that I had to sign a 12 month lease for and am still paying for. I could not afford my books and when I finally could afford them and rent with my financial from USD it was too late and I already failed some of my classes, which I had to drop with no refund.
