It seems like I'm one of the few who have had a positive experience at UAA. Put simply, you get out what you put in at UAA. If you're self-motivated enough to search out research opportunities and extra-curricular work then you will succeed here. For me, UAA was my choice because of the cost. You simply cannot beat it, and if you put in the work here then you should have no problem getting into a prestigious graduate school, if you so choose.

Not terrible, but could be better. Campus wireless network is a joke - with is a big problem when you need to use the internet for research, papers, etc. Im sure they'll fix it at some point but the fact that it's been messed up for months tells you a little about the school.

The policy of requiring students to buy their own scantron forms/bluebooks is frustrating, we should not have to go out of our way and pay to get the forms we are required to have to take our tests.

Some annoying fees, for example part of your tuition pays for printing credit in the library, which is wasted money if you have a printer at home.

Campus is bland overall.. not extremely old or falling apart, but not fresh and especially ascetically pleasing.Campus does a surprisingly good job of bringing up comedians and other performers for student shows - considering we are in Alaska. Don't expect something to be happening every night.

As far as health programs are concerned, UAA appears to be following suit with other degree factory colleges and flooding the market. Many of last years graduating class still don't have jobs. If given the option don't go to UAA unless it's for Med Lab tech or Dental, otherwise, leave state, where the programs are much better. My personal experience at UAA was negative, very condescending teacher. When clinical time came around they weren't helpful at all, made almost 0 effort to keep track of students in facilities, and offered 0 support for any problems that arose, except disciplining or blaming students. Many of the facilities have a negative attitude toward students from UAA, whereas if you're coming from Oregon or Washington, it's not so bad.
