Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I am a senior at Kent State graduatingQuite BrightOther
I am a senior at Kent State graduating in the fall. With my experience here at Kent in the exercise science program, I have made great friends through classes and multiple organizations I was able to do while I lived on campus since I was not from the northern part of the state. My professors within the major have taught us what they are to teach us, but I could have learned much more in my degree then becoming a personal trainer.. eapecially since my concentration was in Pre-Physical Therapy, and we are not taught anything about it. Our president Bev Warren really cares for the students at Kent, but sadly she has to answer to the idiots above her running the university. The campus is taken care of well, for the most part, but that's about all I can say that would be positive about this university. Every single semester here at Kent I have run into issues with the financial aid and bursars office. Whether it is them telling me that I have received all the financial aid I needed then a week prior to the payment being due telling me I owe thousands of dollars. It seems like everybody who I have worked with from those departments do not care for any student there because there are so many of us. Along with this, the individuals running residence services don't seem to know what they are doing. If you want to become a resident assistant, yes, it is very rewarding and fun, but you will most likely be treated like shit by those above you. Prices are too high, several of the buildings need fixed up, but instead waste it on making campus look "pretty". If you can afford it and are social, it is a good place for you so you don't have to deal with any of the departments personally. If you half to though, I would recommend looking elsewhere. If I had done so, I would have gone to Ohio University in a heart beat. The program seemed better and I absolutely loved the campus, but I quite honestly was a stupid senior coming out of high school. The university says if you take 15 credit hours a semester, you will graduate on time, but if I had done so, I would have graduated a semester late. I have gotten screwed out of taking classes when I could have, and I have had to take summer classes for 2 years and I am still graduating a semester late. I could go into much more detail, but this is already rather long.

Question
Kent State University, main campuses School of Art'sQuite BrightOther
Kent State University, main campuses School of Art's and Science, is the most ridiculous and disgusting school to have ever existed. Why, you may ask? I will tell you, I created a 5, 10, and 20 year plan for my life based on my dual majors which are business management and french translation, then because the 'wonderful' staff was so intuitive they gave me false information. Not only was the Translation major with a concentration in French on reinstated 4 years ago, but they neglected to tell THEIR OWN STAFF that some of the classes rotate out every other year and that I won't be able to start my major for another year, on top of this year and then I will miss the other classes that rotate out. These advisors get paid around $45,000 a year, they are paid to guide us so the university can eat our wallets and they can't even do that right. It is a sad, sad day when the only people that need to know whats going on don't. Shove popcorn down your throat and pig out you narcissistic bastards.

Question
My overall experience with the university has notBrightOther
My overall experience with the university has not been pleasant. I have attending the Tuscarawas Campus, Stark Campus, and Kent Campus and all three are pretty horrible. There are a few exceptions of course. I have had a few good professors at the school and I think certain majors are set up well but overall I have been very disappointed with my experience at Kent and am transferring next year. The positives are there are a few good professors, parts of the campus are very attractive, and I have felt relatively safe on campus. The negatives are some professors are a joke (in my case 90% have been), the town has NOTHING to do (not to mention there are very few restaurants), and I have had horrible experiences with the faculty. Many advisers have given me wrong information and had me in the wrong classes my freshman year, I was wrongfully accused of plagiarism my sophomore year (long story but to sum it up, I did not quote the definition of DNA even though I had written clearly where the source was from and the professor could not spell "plagiarism" correctly), and I did not feel like the student body was particularly friendly. I would not recommend Kent to any of my friends. I am sure some people are reading this and think I am exaggerating about how shitty the school is but I really am not. I think that maybe for certain majors that the experience is great but I have learned close to nothing in the past few years. I am going to OSU this summer and starting over my college career. Kent's classes are not worth the cost you pay, you get NO individual attention, and overall I felt like the experience was not worth anything. I am miserable and depressed. I am extremely bitter and I am only 21. I feel like I wasted the last 3 years of my life and am doing everything I can to change this and just get away from the school. Take my advice and look elsewhere.
