The typical weekend is basically always the same,BrightUndecided
The typical weekend is basically always the same, drinking at your dorm followed by parties at apartments and lodges. If dancing and drinking are your thing, Richmond is for you. The lack of activities and separation from everything else limits choices. In addition, the city of Richmond is not exactly college friendly. Most of the students are the same, from better off families. They are friendly and fun, but they tend to be somewhat narrowminded. The classes are great with small sizes and usually great professors.

Question
The school is experiencing an identity crisis thanksBrightUrban Planning
The school is experiencing an identity crisis thanks to President Cooper and especially Provost Aprille. In an attempt to make UR a southern Ivy, they have gone overboard with academic improvements and producing an image that is not reflective of the school's true identity but is meant to lead prospective students to believe that it is a "diverse" environment where "intellectual curiosity" is fostered. Grade deflation is encouraged in an attempt to make the school appear more challenging and prestigious, and social outlets, ie Fraternity Row, are being severely limited, resulting in the highest use of CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) by students in the school's history. Behind the facade, however, is still a place I love to call home, as jaded as I am with the administration and its policies. It's hard to find a niche in a school with only 3000 people, but it can be done, and the people who are happiest are the ones who find groups to make these 4 years worthwhile, such as Greek organizations, club sports and other things. All that has kept me here are the people and some great friendships, otherwise I would have transferred to a school whose name value is actually worth all of the work I put in at Richmond. Piece of advice - Don't just come here because it's a pretty campus and the brochures are nice. Do some serious snooping and get the real story.

Amazingly beautiful campus, great faculty and students, however sometimes feels too small, very limited population (80% very wealthy white republican conservative students)
